As I’m sure most writers will agree, there are numerous challenges that we face. For me the biggest challenge is time. Finding time to write without distraction is a constant challenge. Between work, kids, and my own tendencies to procrastinate by watching movies or playing video games, making the time to write is difficult to say the least. But it’s worth it. Thankfully I also have a supportive spouse who is well versed in dealing with my penchant for procrastination.
Currently the system we have come up with that works the best is writing at night after the kids have gone to bed and then my wife gently kicks my butt into the den on Saturdays for some alone time to write or work on the blog. It’s not a perfect system, but for now it seems to work pretty well. I think that no matter what system or techniques you use to overcome challenges, the most important thing is that it works for you.
Everyone is different, so everyone has their own unique set of challenges and ways of dealing with them. The key is to deal with those challenges and not let them be the reason why you gave up on your dream.
Everyone has exactly 24 hours each day to do what he or she chooses. I urge you to choose to work on your craft. Write. Create. The worst thing in life is wishing you had done something when you could; it’s always the things you didn’t do that you regret.
